The entire team at Total Quality Home Builders & Waterfront Properties is passionate about creating beautiful homes where families can enjoy life and spend quality time together. That passion translated to a desire to give homes to families who have experienced some of life’s most difficult times. Homes of Hope is a non-profit organization that builds and refurbishes homes for those in need of safe, secure housing. Individuals who are rebuilding their lives through a second chance program are also given the opportunity to learn the homebuilding trade while helping others in need. These homes give hope to many people, allowing them to improve their lives in a variety of ways. This passion is just one of the many ways Total Quality Homes Builders has distinguished itself among other Greenville construction companies.
The Inspiration and History Behind Homes of Hope
In 1998, a local family lost everything in a house fire, including one of their children. Touched by their story, Total Quality Home Builders was inspired to help, and Homes of Hope was born. Over the span of the organization’s existence, over 650 homes have been built and that number is continually rising. Homes of Hope experienced its share of trials and tribulations in the beginning, struggling to obtain the necessary funding to keep the organization going. But the generosity of the community supported the cause through those early years until the organization received a grant from the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority. Over time, Homes of Hope was able to eventually become self-sustaining and has raised over $50 million over the years. Now Homes of Hope provides rental housing, homeownership options, local housing, and housing solutions for homeless service providers.
Improving the Community One Development at a Time
Homes of Hope has built affordable housing communities for low-income families in Greenville, SC and the surrounding area. Over the years the organization has succeeded in establishing safe neighborhoods that were once neglected and crime-ridden. Through this process, Homes of Hope also provides opportunities for men recovering from drug or alcohol addiction to rebuild their lives and learn a trade while helping to build and remodel these housing developments. In many cases, the individuals who work on the housing projects are then able to move into them upon completion, giving them a sense of value and appreciation for the hard work put in, which is an integral part of the transformation process. Many of these men go on to be gainfully employed by Greenville construction companies.

Individuals, groups, and corporations can invest time, as well as funds, in the organization and be part of the housing solution in Greenville and other areas of South Carolina. You’ll have hands-on experience building and repairing actual homes, working together with friends and co-workers, and even getting to know new people along the way. There are opportunities for adults and youth to contribute their time and efforts to this worthwhile cause. You are sure to gain much more from the experience than you give.
